ROSETTE CLUSTER

by Nogodar Martinez for Aquage

Try it: Take an arc-shaped section from the top of the head to the left ear and split the section into two. Create a rope pattern by crossing the right section over the left until reaching the ends. Find a thin strand from the ends, hold the hair between the thumb and index finger and slide the hair upward toward the base of the rope to form a rosette. Pin the rosette, and repeat the technique across the head with equal-sized sections until you reach the opposite side. Mist with Finishing Spray and Beyond Shine.

Try it: Section two pieces from the front of the head, clip away. Pull the rest of the hair into a low, tight ponytail at the nape. Take the front pieces, twist toward the head and wrap around the bun before securing in place.

MERRY BOUFFANT

by Lucie Doughty for Paul Mitchell

Try it: Begin with a side part on the left. Then create a triangle section starting from the right temple and connecting with the part at the crown. On the left side, section hair behind the ear and clip away. At the back, take the remaining hair and create a smooth ponytail. After the sectioning is complete, begin backcombing the ponytail in small sections while misting with Extra-Body Finishing Spray to add control. Smooth the surface of the ponytail, pin a hairnet into the band, cover the tail and roll the pony into a chignon. Release the front left section, backcomb, smooth over the chignon and pin in place. Return to the top section and backcomb the inside for a strong foundation. Smooth, lift up and back, and pin where the section meets the top of the chignon. Use Extra-Body Finishing Spray to hold the style. To see detailed steps, visit modernsalon.com. Take a section from the top, cut with a shallow depth and work to create a square primary shape. Detail the hairline with shear-over-comb technique. After applying American Crew Ultra Gliding Shave Oil, shave unwanted hair below the taper. Finish the look by applying American Crew SuperGlue on towel-dried hair, and comb the hair into a sculpted square shape.

BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

Interpreted by Karine Jackson for Curlformers

Try it: After creating a strong side part, use a setting lotion to dampen the hair. Set from roots to ends with Super Long Spiral Curlformers, and leave the client under a hooded dryer until the hair is completely dry. For the final minutes turn the dryer to cool to set the curl for a better hold. Gently remove the Curlformers. To create volume, brush through the hair with a boar bristle brush. Spray the roots with hair spray, gently scrunch the curls and mist again with spray to finish.

CLASSIC GLAMOUR

by Kenna for ghd

Try it: Generously apply ghd Heat Protect Spray throughout the hair. Using the ghd Air Hair Dryer, hand-diffuse dry to a natural state on medium setting. Place the ghd Gold Series 1" styler at the root and bevel; then rotate 180 degrees and glide out to the ends. Once the curl has been created, roll back to the root and pin to set. Continue this technique throughout to complete the look, working with the shape of the head and varying the angle of the sub-sections for a natural look. Once the hair is cooled, remove pins. Using a tail comb, tease the roots to secure extra lift. Apply hair spray at the roots to secure the look.
