Bradley MurrayMODERN SALON recently spent a day of editorial experimentation with Oribe Hair Care and Wella at the Backstage: On Location Atelier in Chicago. This educational event, which has previously been hosted in Miami, New York City and Las Vegas, gives attendees the opportunity to watch and learn as Oribe educators demonstrate and discuss Oribe's references for La Fama.
The highlights included a demonstration and hands-on workshop. Oribe Educators Kien Hoang, Louis Orozco and Oribe Hair Care Creative Director of Styling, Ronnie Stam began the morning by recreating the avant-garde styles featured in Oribe's Latin-inspired Miami Beach show. Following the styling presentation, the afternoon concluded with a hands-on workshop where elite hairdressers were given the opportunity to interpret what they saw during the demos and learn in-depth styling techniques.
The foundation of the look was a classic pin curl set, which was demonstrated earlier by Hoang. The curls were later molded into a creative updo with height and volume toward the front of the model's face. While stylists worked diligently, Orozco, Stam and Hoang supplied guests with helpful styling tips and feedback on their looks.
Check out the attendees' creations in the slideshow below! Oribe will host two additional Backstage: On Location events this year at Atlanta, GA on November 4 , and San Francisco, CA on December 2, 2013. For more information on how to attend, visit oribe.com.
