Since founding OPI in 1981, George Schaeffer has made those three letters synonymous with nail care. Recently, it was announced that Schaeffer would be stepping down from his position as CEO while still working with OPI's management team

“What at an incredible ride. After more than thirty years, I have decided it’s time for me to move on. At the end of this year, I will become a Strategic Advisor to OPI and will step down as CEO. I do so with a mixture of pride and sadness,” said Schaeffer in a letter to his distributor partners.

Schaeffer, famous in the beauty industry for his philanthropy, will focus on The Schaeffer Family Foundation and other charities close to his heart.

Three years ago, OPI was purchased by Coty. Coty has appointed Mary van Praag to General Manager of OPI. Van Praag will begin her new role on January 1, 2014, replacing John Heffner, who has taken the position of CEO of Drybar.

OPI has been granted more than 30 Patents for its innovative product ideas and is distributed in over 100 countries on six continents around the world.
