You Could Be What's Next: Enter Sebastian Competition on Facebook

Sebastian Professional’s second annual “What’s Next Awards” (WNA) competition is in full swing with entries in both the professional and new talent categories coming in daily via Facebook.  Entry acceptance closes February 1, 2014.

One of the 2013 professional category winner's, Daniel Lozada, was working as a hairdresser in Puerto Rico when he submitted his styling entry to the competition.  Since his win, Lozado has gone on to help style the Spring 2013 NYFW Christian Soriano show alongside Sebastian Professional Design Team, he has hosted classes and presentaions for cosmetology institutes nationwide, styled a magazine cover shoot, and trained students for Wella Trend Vision 2013 Competition.  Has been quoted as saying that winning the WNAs has been “one of the most significant experiences of [his] life” and the same could be true for the NEXT winners.

 About the What’s Next Awards

• A Facebook competition for both professional hair stylists (two or more years’ experience) and new talent hair stylists (students or less than two years’ experience)

• Stylists to create and submit a photo of look inspired by Sebastian Professional Alter Ego collection using Sebastian Professional Facebook page

• Semifinalists chosen and appear in contest gallery on February 21st

• Finalists chosen and appear on Sebastian Professional Facebook page on March 14th

• Winners chosen by a panel of esteemed industry judges, including Anne Moratto of Modern Salon, at a live stage competition in Los Angeles on April 27th

• Winners in the professional category receive:

o Opportunity to style backstage at NYFW with the Sebastian Design Team

o Airfare and hotel accommodations during NYFW styling

o Sebastian-sponsored editorial photo-shoot with a leading trade publication

• Winners in the new talent category receive:

o Cast prize of $1,000

o Gift valued at $1,000

o Sebastian-sponsored editorial photo-shoot with a leading trade publication

Industry Mourns Gino Trunzo

MODERN and the industry mourns the loss of Gino Trunzo who died yesterday in Mexico of a heart attack. Trunzo made a name for himself in the nail world as both a manicurist and essie’s Assistant Vice President and was named assistant vice president of business development for Redken and Pureology earlier this year.
