The International Salon and Spa Expo: California Dreaming

Arlene Tolin | July 10, 2011 | 6:17 PM

The International Salon and Spa Expo, slated for January 26-28 at the Long Beach Convention Center, offers a full range of education and shopping opportunities via guest artists, manufacturers’ exhibits and technical and fashion theaters. Advance tickets are available from Maly’s of California and at www.probeauty.org/isse.

While visiting Long Beach (California’s fifth largest city), take advantage of the weather – the city enjoys 345 days of sunshine per year and the average temperature in January is a balmy 67.

Rainbow Harbor, houses the The Pike, featuring a giant Ferris Wheel and 14-screen cinema complex; the Aquarium of the Pacific, home to more than 12,500 ocean animals (Shark Lagoon!); the Long Beach Arena, which boasts the world’s largest mural; Shoreline Village, a retail environment designed to look like a 19th century fishing village; and the Queen Mary, purchased by the city in 1967 and open to the public for walking the decks.  For information, go to www.inetours.com (click on Long Beach under the “Los Angeles” listing.)

For the big picture, take a Sunseeker Tour, a short Pacific cruise that includes the famous Hollywood sign, Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Drive among its stops. Phone 562-961-9510 or visit www.sunseekertours.us/.
