An important and necessary step is conditioning both during and after the treatment. Romero applies a hydrating strengthener to ½-inch sections before applying the de-frizzing treatment. An intense moisturizer follows the treatment after a thorough rinse and shampoo. The client is instructed on conditioning maintenance in her at home routine.

Bio Ionic’s KeraSmooth Anti-Frizz Treatment from Bio Ionic offers a smoother, sleeker look for frizzy clients. “It is formaldehyde free, does not need a neutralizer, and just one swipe from a flatiron at 400 degrees to seal the treatment,” says Fernando Romero, creator of the product. For our virgin-haired model looking for a straight finish, the treatment was left on for 25 – 30 minutes. For just defrizzing, the treatment should stay on for 5 – 10 minutes.
