An Extra Dose of Glam for Prom and Weddings

David Maderich | July 10, 2011 | 9:55 PM

Prom and wedding season is right around the corner, my darlings. As makeup artists, we need to give our clients that extra dose of glamor for these special events.

My secret weapons to pump up the glamor are individual eyelashes and glossy nude lips.

For girls going to the prom, it's important to keep the makeup fresh and glowing – nothing too dramatic to shock mommy dearest. Skip the foundation and just add a touch of concealer and tinted moisturizer. To brighten the face with a subtle glow, a creamy pink blush blended on the apples of the cheeks is perfection. Finish the face with a whisk of oil-absorbing loose powder to the oil prone t-zone.

An Extra Dose of Glam for Prom and Weddings Too add drama to the eyes, I like to add three or four clumps of individual eyelashes to the outer corners the eye. Add several coats of waterproof mascara, and a shimmery eye shadow and the peepers are ready to rock all night.

To keep lips dancing, be sure to line and fill in the entire mouth with a nude lip pencil and top with a pinky nude gloss.

No red lips or thick black eyeliner for my prom princesses – it's messy and needs constant touch-ups.

For a trip down the wedding isle, it's important to inquire if the nuptials are taking place in the day or night. I always stick with neutral tones – remember that pictures will last forever, so anything trendy will not last the test of time.

An Extra Dose of Glam for Prom and Weddings
An Extra Dose of Glam for Prom and Weddings For daylight weddings, I keep the makeup on the lighter side – but that doesn't mean boring! A sheer smokey eye paired with pinky lips can be quite stunning. Evening brides can add some luminizing shimmer on their cheeks and inner eyelids. And of course, for day and night weddings, individual eyelashes are a must.

For both prom and wedding clients, encourage them to buy a tiny powder compact and lip color for quick touch-ups.

So that's it for this month my makeup mavens, celebrate special events.
