True Colors Brian and Sandra Smith, Matrix Artistic Designers wanted real people instead of models when they were invited to do a photo shoot for MODERN. “This is what this color is all about,” says Sandra of Matrix’s SoCOlor Dream.Age. “These are the clients we deal with everyday. Not only is this a money-making tool, but we succeed in pleasing the client.” Here are the results.

1. Check eye and skin color against skin tone.

2. Begin color application at root in back using equal parts 508 NA and 509 (to make a neutral champagne blonde).

3. Blend throughout the hair in ¼-inch sections.

4. Return to each section and draw through to the ends. Process for 30 to 40 minutes and then shampoo and condition.

5. Blow dry to a smooth finish.
