Before
Begin with the sectioning. Create a fine crescent and isolate.
Begin the color directly below the crescent. Using a
tail comb, follow with a curve to go deeper on the side,
thinner behind fringe. Blend BW2 (powder bleach) with
10-volume Clairol Professional Cream developer.
Place in back-to-back foils, subdivided into three
sections only in the fine crescent shapes off the
circle. Process to very orange-yellow, in this case 20
minutes. Shampoo and dry.
Return to the same sectioning and go into the
subdivisions with three different demi perm shades,
placed in back to back foils. Using the end of a rattail
comb, remove the first section and place on foil.
Apply first shade, 4R (medium red) with its own
dedicated developer, from root to end.
Apply second shade: 6G with 1/4-ounce “warm red
mixed tone” blended with equal parts dedicated
developer.
Apply third shade: 6R (light blonde red) blended with
equal parts dedicated developer.
While processing, apply a super-red shade of Clairol
Professional Liquicolor Permanente to the remaining
hair (5RR with 20-volume developer).
Process for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Shampoo and condition.
For cut, return to the original sectioning, including
creating an isolated section from the occipital to
below the crown. Begin at the back and hold hair
down and chip into ends to the desired length.
Blend forward, leaving length toward the face.
Using the perimeter as a guide, lift vertical sections out
from the side and cut to follow the shape of the head.
Comb the top sections down. Slide cut, blending from
the back to leave length toward the face.
Lift the top section straight up and chip into the ends. The
fringe is isolated. Blend from the crown to the isolation.
Direct the fringe forward. Direct slightly to the side
and chip into the ends to the desired length.
Direct side pieces forward and cut to blend.
Once hair is dry, continue to finalize the cut. Continue
to blend the fringe into the sides as shown.
Slide cut along the face frame.
Hold vertical sections up and out from the side and
cut the ends using a texturizing shear.
Set the hair using invisible rods.
