The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards brought out the stars to celebrate the youngest up-and-coming entertainers, but reality TV veterans Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton-along with their sisters-showed up other arrivals on the orange carpet. We talked to celebrity stylist/colorist Timothy John of Timothy John's Salon in New York City to get his take on sisterly style.Kardashian Sisters vs. Hilton Sisters: Stylish Square Off!

THE KARDASHIANS

THE LOOK: Sexy minidresses in sorbet tones with ruffles and gathers (with the exception of Kourtney's bold maxidress); their trademark long waves and defined eyes

TIMOTHY JOHN: My first impression is that I am trying to play the game One of These Things is Not Like the Other. Each of their looks is all over the place. They are trying to have their own personality through their fashion, yet they all have the same hairstyle.

The hair across the board looks very boring to me, almost as if they are each wearing a pair of heavy drapes. I love Kim's braid in the front. We are seeing a lot of front braids like these to get hair out of the face. Most of the hair is long with help from extensions. I recommend clip-in extensions for this look.

All of their hair looks very healthy. I am constantly dealing with clients who want naturally long hair, and never want a trim. I am continually educating them to the fact that many of these popular long styles are achieved with extensions.

I would suggest bringing some of the hair up into a soft updo or a sleek and sexy ponytail-nothing too extreme, just enough to show the neck, shoulder and collarbone. I think these areas are beautiful areas to feature on a woman's body. Especially if you're going to wear a strapless dress, why hide behind your hair?

THE HILTONS

THE LOOK: Sleeveless or strapless lace and jacquard dresses in soft neutrals; loose waves or sleek straight hair with highlights, and deep tans

TIMOTHY JOHN: Nicky and Paris both look beautiful. They are sisters, they are a team and they look great together. Their clothing, hair and makeup all complement each other.

Paris has super fine hair, multi-processed hair. This style is achieved through using extensions. The color matches perfectly. The transition between her natural hair and her extensions is seamless. Most likely this was accomplished by using a 1.5 to 2 inch barrel iron. This is a definite look that clients love and can be replicated easily at home.

Nicky's hair is a basic flat-ironed look that could be softened up with some side swept bangs or soft layers around her face. We are definitely dealing with a "fly-away" situation. I would suggest using a light hairspray or texture cream. I would use Hard to Get by Tigi and Redken 23 Forceful Hairspray. The center part is very popular right now, but be careful-it can look severe.
