Garnering a total of four honors at the Austrian Hairdressing Awards at the Vösendorf (Vienna) Event Pyramid, Roland Aichinger was recently crowned “Hairdresser of the Year” for the second time after winning the same award in 2008. Aichinger currently works at one of the largest upper Austrian hairdressing salons—Edinger h.schnitt—and travels domestically and abroad for his photo collections, as a trainer and performer. While living abroad in Germany and Great Britain, his education included training as a stylist and Style Director at Tony & Guy and make-up artist with Karin van Vliet.

“Wanted” Collection: Aichinger staged a situation at a police station. The “after party” being held at a very late hour imparts an exorbitant ‘80s feel which is expressed in the hair styles and clothing. “Due to a mistake I myself once ended up at a police station, the idea for “Wanted” emerged out of this somehow ‘cool’ experience. The images of people, femininity, styling and clothing came alive and were modeled after the style of Studio 54,” says Roland Aichinger.

“Ocean Drive” Collection: Aichinger transported mainstream ‘50s style into the present day. The comic book style makes man’s inner child and his enthusiasm for cars quite apparent. “In the reinterpreted ‘50s look I show modern man as a gentle figure, dreamy and soft,” he says.
