The ladies of Hollywood put on their best faces last night at the Golden Globe Awards. Hot trends of the night included shaggy messy hair, red lips and eyeliner galore.

Angelina Jolie took home the best beauty prize of the night. The pouty-lipped Jolie looked stunning in an ivory Versace gown adorned with red trim. Her perfectly applied black eyeliner, false eyelashes, sculpted eyebrows and bright red lips complimented her exquisite bone structure to perfection. And having Brad Pitt as your red carpet accessory also didn’t hurt!

Also, sporting major eyeliner was ingénue Emma Stone. Her flawless skin, dewy nude lips and top and bottom liquid eyeliner was a winner—as was her breathtaking Lanvin gown. I even liked her messy unkempt hair, which added a youthful twist to her dark eye make-up.

Viola Davis was perfection in a burgundy one shouldered flowing gown by Raoul. Her heavily lined eyes, rosy cheeks and plum hued lips were sexy, yet elegant. Bravo. I even loved her Justin Bieber hairstyle.

Both Claire Danes and Kate Winslet rocked the big fashion trend of black and white. Danes' graphic backless J. Mendel gown was a fresh take on modernism while Winslet's Jenny Packham gown with black top; white column skirt and jeweled belt echoed the golden age of Hollywood.  Both actresses perfectly complimented their gowns with the ever-present heavy eyeliner and bold reddish lips.

While most actresses piled on the eyeliner and red lips, two notable exceptions to the rule were Tilda Swinton and Charlize Theron—both opted for nude faces and lips with winning results. I even liked Miss Theron’s jeweled headband that matched her Dior gown.

I’m on the fence with Madonna’s look— and quite shocked that she won a Golden Globe, but Pia Zadora has one, too, so she’s in good company.  Her dress by Reem Acra paired with a Michael Jackson inspired single glove was a tad “I’m trying too hard” for me, but her classic Hollywood glamour makeup was flawless, as was her beachy wavy hair.

I adore Michelle Williams and I adored “My Week With Marilyn”, but that stupid headband was a mistake—as was her coral lipstick that clashed with her purple animal print gown. Her skin, though, did look amazing. I hope she pulls it together for the Oscars.

The Help’s Octavia Spenser looked like she needed some beauty help. Her school marm up do was a hair don’t—and the gray lipstick not only washed her out, but added weight to her face. I would have given her a nice face defining plum lipstick to brighten up her face.

Reese Witherspoon usually gets it right – not this time. For starters, her ill-fitting Zac Posen dress did nothing for her figure. And the ratty hair was right out of a Jersey mall.  Bring back the bangs and red lips, Reese.

Was Jessica Biel preparing for her nuptials to Justin Timberlake by wearing a wedding dress?  Valentino may have designed her Little House on the Prairie lace dress, but it looked like it was from Kmart. The long shaggy hair and non descript makeup added to the frumpy misery.

Biggest disappointment was Meryl Streep. I mean, we all know she’s a down to earth gal, but couldn’t she have gussied up a tad for an awards show? With her messy hair pulled back in a ponytail and librarian glasses, she looked like she was spending the day at Kohl’s. Let’s hope she glams it up for the Oscars.
