The Betsey Johnson show during New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is always such a blast. Betsey makes it as fun as possible for everyone who is working the show backstage, and watching the show front of house (think cupcakes, champagne, Twizzlers, confetti, flowers, hand-drawn signs, music, everything bright colored).

MODERN was able to pull away lead hair for Aveda Jon Reyman to get the details on the hair story, but also what it's like to work with Betsey.

"This collection is really a celebration of Betsey Johnson in the '60s, so we wanted to highlight the transition from big '60s fun hair to real clean, smooth straight hair that's really healthy and young," Reyman told MODERN as we interviewed him backstage. "It's really a throwback to Twiggy and Valley of the Dolls. We did two looks: one is a center part, flatironed smooth and straight. And the second is a side part wih side ponytail and a three-strand braid that's simple and clean to help complement Betsey's incredible colection."(Watch the full inteview below.)

Reyman and the Aveda team used Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep first, then followed with Aveda Volumizing Tonic and Control Force spray to support the style. A Babyliss flatiron was used to seal in the shine and create the straight look.

MODERN scored amazing front row seats for the show, and couldn't wipe the smile off our faces the whole time. Check out the video above for the grand finale! Watch the whole thing, you'll see why it's so fun!
