HOW-TO: Fancy Fishtail UpdoFreelance Hair Stylist Nycole Jones created this fantastic fishtail braid updo, which she likes to call her Passion Fruit Fish Braid. "My inspiration behind this was fruit!" says Jones. "This Passion Fruit Braid is full of bold flavor like from a kiwi or green apple. As I was creating this, I let my hands create the art of what I was seeing. I feel like I took a fishtail braid where no fish has gone before!"

Try it:

Step 1: Flatiron all of the hair.
Step 2: Apply Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum to the hair for a sleek look .
Step 3: Separate the hair into two sections in the back of the head (top and bottom half), leaving a thick section of hair in front for the front fishtail braid (in the bang area).
Step 4: Form two fishtail braids (one on the top half of the head, and one for the bottom half of the head). Pull apart the braids to give it a big messy look. (You don't have to braid the hair all the way down, so then you can achieve the curly bun—as seen in the photo.)
Step 5: For the remaining section on the front left side of the head, create another fishtail braid.
Step 6: Start to pin all of the braids up onto the head (however you would like).
Step 7: With the remaining hair at the bottom of the braids, create a loose bun.
Step 8: Hairspray the hair.
