Sally Beauty Holdings has raised more than $1.3 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure during its first year of partnership with the breast cancer charity. From April 2011 through March 2012, the company and its operating units, Sally Beauty and CosmoProf, raised funds through a campaign that donated 5 percent of the sales of designated products as well as collecting donations at the register in Sally and CosmoProf stores. Many of the company’s suppliers and manufacturer partners also participated in Sally Beauty’s fund raising program.

“We are thrilled to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s leading breast cancer organization,” said Gary Winterhalter, president and CEO of Sally Beauty Holdings. “Founder and CEO Nancy G. Brinker’s commitment to the promise she made to her sister Susan G. Komen to rid the world of breast cancer is what convinced our company and our professional beauty industry partners to join the cause. We would like to thank our supplier and manufacturer partners whose generosity helped us achieve this outstanding contribution. Their commitment is commendable, especially since woman make up the majority of our customer base.”

Customers were involved in the fund raising by purchasing designated products and by placing cash donations in canisters in the stores. Purchase of designated products and contributions at the register were made at more than 1,100 CosmoProf and Armstrong McCall stores.
