Alexis Campos (@AKC_HairMakeup) created a beautiful color transformation for client Dominique. “When she walked into the salon as a new client her hair was very blotchy and over processed,” says Campos, Manager of Hair Plus of Waterbury in Waterbury, Connecticut. “During the consultation she informed me she was seeing a hairdresser who was bleaching over bleach many times and made her too blonde. When she wanted a change she asked the hairdresser to make her red. The hairdresser applied a red color and the final product was very pink. When she asked the hairdresser to fix it, she was told to call in the morning because she was too busy that day. When she called the next day she said she was unable to fix it . Dominique went home and put a color over it because she hated it.” Obviously unhappy at this point, Dominique went to Instagram looking for a good colorist and gave Campos a call.

Each of Campos’ color clients receive a custom and unique color formula. Here she shares how she came to the rescue to correct the color, and restore Dominique’s faith in the professional hairdresser. (The overall timing for this process was about 2.5 hours and the charge was $205.)

COLOR FORMULAS:

Color Formula 1: 2oz of Wella Blonder with 20v equal parts (blended with Olaplex)

Color Formula 2: Matrix SoColor 2oz of 6RR; 0.5oz of 4rv; & 0.5oz of SoRed RC (Red Copper) mixed with equal parts 20v (blended with Olaplex)

Color Formula 3: Matrix SoColor 2oz 6w; 2oz 5w; & 1oz 5n with equal parts of 20v (blended with Olaplex)

HOW TO:

Step 1: Begin at the nape. Take small sections of hair and tease close to the root.

Step 2: Weave little pieces and alternate Formula 1 & Formula 2. (“The little teased sections prevent any line of demarcation.)

Step 3: Once each foil is in place, apply formula 3 to the remainder pieces of hair, including the teased area. Apply from scalp  to end up with an even color.

Step 4: Place under the dryer for 15 minutes then allow the color to process for an additional 20 minutes at room temperature.

Step 5: Rinse and apply Olaplex No. 2 to the hair. Process for 15 minutes.
