Amanda Jenkins, a master stylist at Arrojo Studio in New York City, has styled the hair for bands like Kings of Leon, Good Charlotte, Audioslave and Morningwood when they appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live. So what inspires Jenkins to create such rock-star worthy hair styles for these bands? MODERN asked her about her inspirations.
PHOTOSHOOTS ON LOCATION: Landscapes really make me think about what type of story would fit. What type of hair would work? Structure? Whimsical? Dramatic?”
PEOPLE WATCHING: Sitting in a park or at an outdoor café in any of the neighborhoods will provide hours of entertainment for me. People are so interesting and creative.”
RESEARCHING NEW BANDS: I enjoy seeing bands perform live. Looking at various genres gets me thinking about different ways to style hair or even to come up with a story for a photo shoot.”
