New Electrical Styling Tool Kit for Students

Alison Alhamed | July 10, 2011 | 10:18 AM

I just got wind of Pivot Point International's new Electrical Styling Tool Kit for cos students—and it is very cool! Not only does the styling and maintenance kit contain all of the essential "tools of the trade" for cosmetologists, but it also gives detailed care and maintenance information to help educators develop the best practices for tool care among their students.

"We analyzed product issues and frequent customer questions regarding their tools and came to a rather surprising conclusion," says Pivot Point International CEO Karen Wilkin-Donachie. "Students did not fully understand the care necessary to keep their tools at optimum performance." As an education company, she says, Pivot Point developed the kit to be a complete solution for not just students, but educators too. Let's face it, it's tough to teach an old do new tricks. If educators begin the process of proper care and maintenance to students while we're still newbies, hopefully those lessons become second nature to us as we progress through out careers. "Students receive the full complement of tools they need to pursue their cosmetology studies while educators are empowered with information and a class presentation to walk through the step-by-step process to care for each tool," Wilkin-Donachie says.

It's true. One thing I learned is that blow dryers don't die from natural causes. They just don't! Proper maintenance, care and cleaning will no doubt extend the life of styling investments. Here's some examples of the teaching materials:

Each Electrical Styling Tool Kit comes packaged in its own travel-friendly carrier and includes five essential BaByliss PRO electrical styling cosmetology tools:

• 1600-Watt Blow Dryer
• 1" Flat Iron
• ¾" Marcel Iron
• Clipper
• Trimmer

The blow dryer is great for use on clients. It's not too loud, so we're able to continue conversations with clients, and it's not too heavy, perfect for long locks and timed practicals.

The styling irons feature nano titanium technology for heat resistance and smooth finishing, while the clipper and trimmer are ergonomically designed for control, comfort and overall ease of use. The classroom support materials for educators contain a comprehensive guide to tool care and maintenance with FAQs that anticipate student concerns and help educators facilitate learning.
