Tips From the Top: Conquer Your Fears While in Beauty School!“The most important thing to focus on while in school is to conquer your fears: focus on the skills that you’re most uncomfortable performing," says Brett Butcher, National Program Director for Great Lengths USA. "Beauty school is where you can face and overcome those fears so you don’t have to face them in a working salon environment where the pressure to perform will be significantly greater.

"Additionally, work with as many hair types possible. The more you know, the more suited you will be in performing services on all clients. This will broaden your marketability which is very appealing to salons as they make hiring decisions. Finally, now is the time to begin researching salons and developing relationships with the salons you could potentially work for.

"The more you know about the salons you want to work in, the better prepared you will be when you interview in those salons.”
