Natalie Stalter (@Natalie_Stalter) has been playing with hair for as long as she can remember. The artist, based at Salon Kingston in West Hollywood’s Salon Republic, is also a member of the Sebastian Urban Team and cross trains in Wella.

When MODERN found this totally beautiful transformation on instagram, we just had to know more. Here Stalter offers the HOW TO:

Formula & Timing

Step 1: Base Color: Wella illumina 9/43 + 7/43 + 9/60 + 30 volume developer {2:2:1 ratio}. Feather down from the new growth about 4 inches.

Step 2: Hand Paint 9/43 + 10/ + 40 volume developer {1:1 ratio}, painting some darker pieces to create more dimension

Step 3: Process for 40 minutes. Shampoo & Color Post Treat.

Step 4: Tone with Wella Color Touch 8/43 + 1.9% developer. Apply to roots and about 8 inches down.

Step 5: Process for 10 minutes, then apply from that point to the ends while leaving out some tips of the ends.

Step 6: Rinse thoroughly & Color Post Treat

Step 7: Gloss with Wella Relights /34 + 1.9% developer and then rinse. Finish with Blondor Seal and Care for conditioner.

From Foiled and Damaged To Luscious Red

Maggie Mulhern | October 1, 2017

"This client had been doing full foils for years, and her hair showed it," says Tiffinie Morton (@hairbytiffinie). "We had been working on getting her hair healthier and decided to try something new. She initially wanted to go to a warm level 5 but I talked her into trying this to ease her into being darker since she had been blonde for so long." Details here.
