Box Hair Color Fail to Beautiful Balayaged Babylights

Lauren Salapatek | November 24, 2014 | 10:05 AM

Arsova Salon Founder and Creative Director Anita Arsova gave her model a salon professional makeover, complete with a haircut, style and new hair color. "After using box color repeatedly at home, my model's hair became very dry," she says. For the haircut, Arsova point cut the hair to create different lengths of layers, and used deep slicing with shears and a razor. The long side fringe was heavily texturized to open the face shape. Tape-in hair extensions were applied at the end for added volume and length.

THE STYLE:

STEP 1: Prep damp hair with Sebastian Volupt Volume Building Spray on the roots and Sebastian Mousse Forte from midshaft to ends.

STEP 2: Blow dry hair using a round brush for volume.

STEP 3: Curl the hair with 1.25-inch barrel curling iron away from the face.

STEP 4: Finish with a firm hold hairspray.

HAIR COLOR:

STEP 1: Wella 6/1 with 20 volume was applied to the regrowth and processed for 35 minutes.

STEP 2: Wella Cream Lightner with 20 volume was balayaged onto the hair using slightly fine pieces (use the babylights techinque)

STEP 3: Wella 6/1 with 20 volume was applied to the rest of the hair.

STEP 4: The hair was toned with Wella Color Touch 7/1 and 6% emulsion for 15 minutes.
