"This client was looking to achieve a lighter, all over gray shade, but due to her prviously over processed hair, we were forced to meet somewhere in the middle," says Atkinson. "The result is a deeper gray so we didn't have to compromise the integrity of the damaged hair. She also has a 'trim phobia' so we worked with what she had!"

Here Atkinson offers the HOW TO:

Step 1: In foils apply Paul Mitchell Synchrolift with 20 volume. Apply heavily making sure not to overlap previous blonde shades.

Step 2: For the base (between foils) apply Paul Mitchell 5a + 4 blue shots with 20 volume developer

Step 3: Process for 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo the hair.

Step 4: Tone with Paul Mitchell 7a + 5 Blue shots blended with 5 volume developer.

Step 5: Process for 10 minutes and then rinse from the hair.
