Step 1
It’s key for every updo to start with a good foundation. To add grip to this up style, I suggest blowdrying in a volume mousse, concentrating on the roots.
Step 2
Section off the hair from bottom of the occipital bone down to behind each ear and clip away for later.
Step 3
Take a small triangle section from crown to the tips of the eye brows.
Step 4
Split the hair in half.
Step 5
Utilize a loose fishtail braiding technique.
Step 6
As you work down the fishtail braid, incorporate hair on the sides of the head starting from the right side, going up and over into the left side.
Step 7
Repeat this technique until you get to the tips of the ears.
Step 8
Bobbi pin the loose fishtail braid to the head around the occipital bone area.
Step 9
Release bottom section.
Step 10
Create two small ponytails next to each other underneath the loose fishtail braid.
Step 11
Do a simple three strand braid on the left ponytail.
Step 12
Pancake the left strand of the braid only. You pancake the braid by gently pulling the braided strand out.
Step 13
Secure the end of the braid.
Step 14
Repeat this same technique on the right side.
Step 15
Both braids should now be pancaked on the outer side and secured at the ends.
Step 16
Take the braid to the left and roll into a tight small bun. It's important that the pancaked part of the bun is on the outside.
Step 17
Secure with bobby pins. This will be our inner flower bud.
Step 18
Now take you right braid and wrap around the first braided floral bun.
Step 19
Again, make sure that the pancaked side is on the outer side.
Step 20
Secure with bobby pins.
Step 21
For a softer texture, I used label.m's workable hairspray to lightly spray for texture and hold. Then by using the palms of your hands gently massage the hair out for a whispy texture.
Step 22
Finish off by using spray shine and a hairspray for hold.
