Jay Wesley Olson (@jaywesleyolson), national colorist for L’Oreal Professionnel and owner of The Bespoke Salon in Scottsdale, AZ, shares his methods for creating stunning and natural balayage highlights.

Formulas used:
L’Oréal Pro Infinie Platine with 30 volume and Olaplex bond multiplier for conditioning
Glossed with L’Oréal DIA Light 10.32 and DIA Light Clear with 6 volume for shine and subtle tone shift

“I started with surface painting in a V or double point formation in the back and moved toward the face,” said Olson. “Due to personal taste, I always use larger sections in the back with double or V applications to create that "lived in" look. Moving toward the face I did some single point surface coloring and up on to the top an actual 3-5 point balayage stroke, making sure to just touch on the surface at the base and saturate the bottom of the section for that extra pop. In the front I get closer to the scalp to give a more finished, "done" look.  I feel it frames the face nicely and gives a more polished look.”
