Celebrity Style: Girls' Zosia Mamet's Antique Gray Haircolor

Lauren Salapatek | January 8, 2015 | 9:50 AM

Mature gray “granny-chic” haircolor is trending and tons of celebs are making the jump from brunette and blonde to silver or antique gray! Recently, Girls actress Zosia Mamet, 26, debuted her new look on Sunday, December 7, at the premiere of A Most Violent Year in New York City.

So why did she make the dramatic change? According to Mamet, she found inspiration for the look on the subway. According to what she told US Weekly, “I would see girls with various haircolors and be super envious of that color. So I just decided that I wanted to do the colors that I always wanted.”

Here, Pravana’s Jamie Muniz provides the formula to this show-stopping gray:

STEP 1: Pre-lighten hair to a level 10 with Pure Light Power Lightener and your choice of developer.

STEP 2: Apply 7.11 with a drop of Blue Additive mixed with 10 volume developer to 1/4” at the scalp.

STEP 3: Then, apply 9.11 with a small drop of Blue Additive with 10 volume developer to the remaining length of the hair.

STEP 4: Process for 30 minutes.

STEP 5: Shampoo and condition with any NEVO Super-Natural Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner.

STEP 6: Dry the hair completely.

STEP 7: Apply VIVIDS Silver stitched out pieces for added dimension.

STEP 8: Process for 20-30 minutes.

STEP 9: Follow with VIVIDS Color Protect aftercare and style as desired.
