TRANSFORMATION: Plum Color Melt

Maggie Mulhern | January 9, 2015 | 3:52 PM

Gina Bottoni (@gina_bott), a colorist and fine artist based at Salon de Beaute, Parsippany, NJ, had an opportunity to transform her client and she jumped at it. "The goal of this was to eliminate her existing highlight pattern, as well as give her a color melt that would last through the purple overlay," says Bottoni.

Here she offers the HOW TO:

FORMULA 1: base PRAVANA 4V .25 4N 20 VOL
FORMULA 2: Wella BLONDOR 10 Vol
FORMULA 3: EQUAL PARTS FRAMESI violet and blue 20 volume.

Step 1: Apply Formula 1 to the base, and feathered out to blend and recolor her pre-existing foil pattern.

Step 2: Formula 2 is then saturated through the ends and blended upward into formula 1 with feathering and precise open air application and blending.

Step 3: After the perfect level of even lightening is achieved by formula 2, formula three is applied on towel dried hair in the sink for 30 minutes.
