Hairstylist DJ Quintero for Alterna Haircare wanted to create a modern, clean look to compliment Katie Holmes' strapless, eggplant-colored Marchesa dress. Holmes wasn't wearing any jewelry, so Quintero created a deep-parted, low ponytail to compliment her striking features and elegant, bare neckline.

GET THE LOOK: KATIE HOLMES' DEEP-PARTED PONYTAIL

STEP 1: Holmes had just arrived from the beach, so Quintero treated her dry hair with a boost of hydrating Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Pure Kendi Treatment Oil, letting it soak for 10 minutes.

STEP 2: Quintero washed Holmes' hair with moisture shampoo and conditioner.

STEP 3: On damp hair, he mixed a small amount of the Alterna Haircare Caviar Seasilk Oil Gel with the Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Omega Nourishing Oil, and brushed it through with a Mason Pearson brush.

STEP 4: Using a large round brush, Quintero blow dried her hair on high-heat and parted it far to her left-hand side.

STEP 5: Quintero prepped Holmes' dry hair with a thermal protector and then flatironed her hair from root to tip, to create a super smooth look.

STEP 6: Quintero gathered her parted hair low at the nape of her neck, and secured it using a hair bungee. He wrapped several small pieces of hair around the bungee to hide it, and secured those strands with bobby pins.

STEP 7: He finished by spraying a supple amount of finishing spray to the top of her head, and applied a dime-size amount of Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Micromist to her ends.
