FORMULA: Classic Caramel Lites Courtesy Balayage and Babylights

Maggie Mulhern | April 29, 2015 | 4:31 AM

Neal Malek (@NealMalekHair) of Orlando, Florida has a beautiful Instagram page filled with beautiful finishes and transformations. He created this tasteful and timeless color design that we could not ignore. The admitted "color fanatic" says, "I just LOVE how color can change someone's look. Color can change someone's self-esteem. It can change her day, it can change her year and it can change the way she feels about herself!"

For this client Malek had a great opportunity. "She requested highlights but was hesitant to do anything too drastic. She actually had VIRGIN hair so, with her, I took a simple approach."

Here he shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Using Redken Blonde Icing Zero Ammonia lightener and 20 volume, apply babylights in 3 back to back weaves all around her hairline "to make it pop."

Step 2: Balayage 2-3 inch sections in diagonal partings around the front.

Step 3: Conitnue into the back switching to diagonal sections. All partings are placed in a diamond shape around the head.

Step 4: Process under heat for 20 minutes and cool for another 10.

Step 5: Tone (roots only) with with Redken Shades EQ 07NB and 07GB.

Step 6: Process for 7-8 minutes and then rinse.
