Alyssa Wiener (@lysseon) of Stylin', Norwalk, Conn, caught us off guard with this transformation. "It really was an intense corrective because her hair was so many different levels of damage with bands of all colors," says Wiener. "Valentina came to me after following my work on Instagram. During her initial consult, we planned on just evening out the blonde - which would include her regrowth, the band at the regrowth from one salon, and the over-processed blondes at the mids to ends from ANOTHER salon. I told her it'd be a huge project, and booked out the time accordingly."

A week before her appointment, Valentina called and said she was really loving the rose gold colors she was seeing on Wiener's Instagram page, and was wondering if it was possible. "I was SO excited about this," says Wiener.

Here she shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Mix Scruples Shadow Lights Mocha (equal parts 4GN/6NA) which is filler infused - equal parts 10vol and demi. Get that onto the regrowth to fix the first band of color (about 3 inches out), and melt that into Scruples Shadow Lights 9G & demi developer with 1/8th bond builder to fill the ends. Process for half an hour. Rinse. Bond builder step 2. Spray the hair with Tressa Porosity Equalizer. Dry completely.

Step 2: Reapply the Mocha (her hair was so over processed that it was still spotty at the root) and melt that into Schwarzkopf Strawberry BlondMe toner 7vol. "I like "double dipping" or "triple dipping" my formulas, because that way the color goes through stages and they really get the bang for their buck." Process for 20 minutes. Rinse. Spray again with the porosity equalizer.

Step 3: Apply Rose Gold formula. Blend a double batch for this much hair. "This is definitely a formula I'm still playing around with as well." Scruples Hi Definition 4oz clear, 1/2oz 3RV, 1/2oz 8G, demi developer 1/8th bond builder. Process for 25 minutes. Rinse.

Step 4: Create a gloss using Scruples ER (about 6oz) with 1/2oz of red urban shock and a small pea of pink. Let this sit on her towel dried hair in the sink and soak up for about 5 minutes. Bond builder step 2. Shampoo, condition.

"All in all, it took just over 4 hours to complete," says Wiener. "I charge $100/hour for correctives. The bond builder really helped me out in this situation because she absolutely REFUSED a haircut. I offered one to her at least 5 times! However, her ends were in so much better condition than she came in with. She was thrilled with the transformation and as was I. It will fade out to a nice buttery blonde."
