Actress Allison Williams (Girls) wore a textured updo for the 2015 Met Ball, which was themed China: Through the Looking Glass. Her fire-engine red dress was definitely on-point for the theme, and stylist Rebekah Forecast explains the hair inspiration.

"Old Hollywood glamour and '20s film stars were the inspiration behind Allison's hair," Forecast says. "Added twists such as texture made the look modern and youthful."

Get the look: Allison William's Textured Updo

STEP 1: Run L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Sérum de Force through the ends of hair for shine and moisture.

STEP 2: Apply L'Oréal Professionnel Perfect Texture around the entire hairline. Twist and pin back small pieces of hair, drying under a warm setting to create wave.

STEP 3: Pull hair into ponytail using fingers. Generously apply L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Sève Protectrice for shine and a healthy glow.

STEP 4: Shape hair into sculptural, messy bun by adding hair upward and elongating the neck. Keep hair sleek at the sides for added drama.

STEP 5: For an imperfect look, pull out a few pieces of hair to frame the face and apply L'Oréal Professionnel OR Graphic.

STEP 6: Finish with L'Oréal Professionnel Extreme Lacquer for hold.
