Joico How-To: Freeform Lightening for Sunkissed Ends

Elizabeth Jakaitis | May 11, 2015 | 8:11 AM

Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza created this seamless look that is replacing ombre by combining high-lift highlights with freeform lightening on the ends.

FORMULA AND APPLICATION

Natural level 4

Formula 1: UHLMA (Ultra High Lift Matte Ash) and 30-volume Veroxide. (Determine amounts based on hair length and manufacturer’s directions.)

Formula 2: Joico Vero K-Pak Crème Lightener with 10-volume Veroxide

Formula 3: Vero K-PAK Chrome ¾ oz Clear + ¼ oz N8

1. Use Formula 1 to create a few soft highlights. Then immediately apply Formula 2 on some of the ends. Process for the desired results; then shampoo and rinse.

2. Apply Formula 3 all over, as a final glaze that seals in the color and adds shine. Process 20 minutes, rinse and shampoo.
