Stevie Nicks Blonde Color How-To by Rusk

Elizabeth Jakaitis | May 11, 2015 | 1:03 PM

Rusk global artistic director Gerard Caruso created a dimensional blonde that pays tribute to that retro, bombshell look.

“The Flashback Collection is a modernized nod to the trends of the ’60s and ’70s,” Caruso says. “This look is an ode to Stevie Nicks and is perfect for summer blondes both in the haircut and haircolor. Here we use a combination of highlights and soft shadowing to frame the face, sides and back.”

FORMULA AND APPLICATION

Highlights: 1 part Deepshine Blue and 2 parts 20-volume Deepshine Shine Enhancing developer

Base Break: ½ oz 10.13B + ½ oz 10.11AA with 1½ oz 10 volume Accent Color: Deepshine Conditioning Color ½ oz 7.3G + ½ oz 8.3G + 1½ oz 10 Deepshine 10-volume developer

1. Retouch base color and highlights.

2. Starting 2 inches in from the front hairline, take a 1½-inch parting from the front hairline directly behind the ear to the bottom of the nape. Repeat on other side and isolate the remainder of hair.

3. To the above section, add the shadow effect by foiling the entire section in a feathering motion to avoid solid lines. Using the Highlight formula, prelighten to desired level, shampoo and condition.

4. Accent prelightened hair with the Accent Color. On damp hair, apply Base Break from scalp to ends for 10 minutes. Shampoo, condition.
