The Four-Week Evolution of Pink Hair

Maggie Mulhern | May 22, 2015 | 8:47 AM

When Shannon Keel @shannonkeel, (aka The Hair Doo Chick) created her The Hair Parlor in the small town of Lee, Florida, she knew it could be tough to build a clientele from scratch.

"I knew I needed to prove myself and began posting pictures of my work on Facebook," Keel says. "I got the idea to have a drawing for a Free Haircut For Life. Within the year,, I gained a wonderful clientele. Realizing the hunger they had for great hair encouraged me to get more education and be the best I can be for my town. Just because you're in a small town doesn't mean you can't be and do amazing hair. 'Keep learning' is my motto. Now, not only loving making beautiful hair for my little town, but I have the wonderful opportunity to share and teach other stylists all over the nation how they to can make a difference by bringing high fashion techniques to their clients."

When MODERN saw this pink evolution on Instagram, we asked for more details. Here Keel shares:

Kenra Color Creatives Colormelt Formula:
Base: magenta with blue
Midshaft: pure magenta
Ends: orange
Melting one color into the next.

"This is how her haircolor evolved over four weeks' time," Keel says. "She shampooed her hair everyday with hot water as a test to see how it held. We were both astonished at how her hair evolved each week. Beautifully!"
