San Diego’s Bellus Academy, known for premier cosmetology curriculum, teamed up with hairstylist DJ Muldoon of The Factory salon and educational space to create signature precision barber cuts. Inspired by the era hair of Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men, each cut evokes a signature personality. Through these trend-based cuts, Bellus is reaching out not only to prospective barbering students, but to licensed stylists who want to expand their offerings and grow their business through precision cutting.

Although Muldoon travels the country teaching workshops and seminars on grooming, he found he couldn’t keep up with all the requests.

“We foresee a continued growth in this sector of the industry and want to help produce excellent haircutters by having the ability to cut hair without fear and not just copy trends,” says Emanuel San Martin, who created the cuts in this collection. “A technical step-by-step video system demonstrating classical, foundational technique is the best way to reach the masses.”

Homme consists of traditional men’s cuts executed with a realistic technical approach, and serves as a video aide to anyone who desires to improve their haircutting methods and also for salon owners seeking to provide quality education to their staff. The cuts demonstrated in the system vary from conservative professional to young aspiring musician. For details on the program, visit bellusacademy.edu/barbering.
