Side Fishtail Braid with flowers
Side Fishtail Braid with flowers

Summer is just around the corner, and with new seasons come new styles! With flowers blooming all around, it’s no wonder this summer’s beauty is all about intricate braids and pretty flower pins.

One Boston salon owner, Mario Russo of Salon Mario Russo, has created new hairstyles that combine both of these looks to create a hairdo that rocks the summer look whether your client is glamming up for a wedding or spending a casual night out.

Get the look: Side Fishtail Braid + Flowers

STEP 1: Start with the hair parted to the side. Take a front section of the hair and Dutch braid it along the hairline. Repeat with a smaller section of hair on the opposite side of the part. Tie off both braids with clear elastics.

STEP 2: Gently pull apart each Dutch braid for added thickness and messiness. Spritz with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray to help with texture.

STEP 3: Keeping the Dutch braids off to the sides, gather the top section of the rest of the hair (as if creating a half-up, half-down style), twist once and pin to condense hair. Add volume before completing the full braid.

STEP 4: At the nape of the neck, gather all hair to the side, with the exception of the side braids, and create a fishtail braid.

STEP 5: Gently pull apart the braid for a full and messy look, and spritz this braid with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray.

STEP 6: Pull the side Dutch braids back to meet the fishtail braid and pin in place. Hide the ends of the Dutch braids by tucking them under the fishtail braid at the base of the neck. Continue pinning until all braids feel secure. Complete the look with a spritz of Bumble and Bumble Does It All styling spray.

STEP 7: Insert flower pins throughout the braids. Keep it simple yet elegant by adding four or five small flowers. No need to overdo it!
