COLOR CORRECTION: Fixing Faded Fashion Green

Maggie Mulhern | May 29, 2015 | 4:47 PM

Spencer Henry (@spencerhenryhair), a Pureology Brand Educator based in LA, says he is “dedicated to glamorous, healthy hair. Most of my styling is influenced by 1950’s/1960’s Hollywood.”

But Henry had to pull out all his color correction knowledge for this challenge. “My client's previous history included multiple at home bleach attempts, and at home green dye,” he says. “She wanted to go a more natural route and couldn't stand the yellow. This was her first visit to a professional salon and she left it in my hands.”

Henry got busy:

Step 1: Apply a full foil with Redken Flash Lift with 20 volume.

Step 2: Once foils are in place, apply to the rest of the hair:

Redken Shades EQ:

1 oz. 06NB

.5 oz. 04NB

1.5 oz. 05G

all blended with equal parts Shades EQ processing solution.

Step 3: Process for 25 minutes. Rinse.

Step 4: Tone with Redken Shades EQ 09GB.

Step 5: Blow dry with Pureology Colour Fanatic Leave-in Conditioner and Lustrous Volumizer.

“I think the overall color has a nice natural feel and she loved how the highlights softened the overall look,” says Henry.
