Stevie Diaz (@Steviescissorhands) of A Lux Salon, Stockton, California, had a client looking for a new look. "My client came in wanting Kylie Jenner hair," says Diaz.  "She hadn't put color on it for two years so she had a lot of gray. The bottom 6 inches had old faded black box dye."

Here Diaz shares the HOW TO:

STEP 1: Cover roots with 3N by Pravana, stretching down about 5 inches.

STEP 2: Balayage the ends all the way up to the 3N, "color melting" using Redken Flash Lift with 25 volume developer and Olaplex on the back half,  switched to 40 volume as you work up the head. Separate sections with plastic wrap.

STEP 3: Process for well over an hour lifting to desired level. Shampoo.

STEP 4: Tone with Matrix Colorsync 7A.  Blow dry the hair.

STEP 5: Apply a mix of Joico Indigo, Joico Cobalt Blue and Pravana Blue. "Her hair was still pretty warm after toning so I only used blues because I knew it was going to make a teal."  Process for 30 minutes.

"The total time start to finish (with cut and style) was 7 hours. The pictures don't do it any justice. It was much more vibrant in person."
