The juxtaposition of manufactured structures within nature was the inspiration behind Hybrideducation.co’s first collection for Spring/Summer 2015, featuring three cut and three color looks that are edgy yet refined and easily integrated into a salon setting.

The three cutting approaches in the collection deliver aggressive new takes on everyday looks by featuring scissor-over-comb work; disconnected, shape-on-shape panels; and undercutting with multi-channeled fringes. The color showcases a range of placement approaches including interlocking chevron panels and bleach and tone techniques with underlying angular pieces for contrast. With a palette of concrete and cool tones surrounded by natural warmth, the color creates the ideal complement to the inventive cutting approaches.

“Our goal for the SS15 collection was to use completely fresh, yet avant-garde approaches that are challenging and exciting for stylists to create, without sacrificing their suitability in salon settings,” says Don Haidl, Hybrideducation.co co-founder & lead creative. “The result is a collection of wearable looks that have movement, texture and softness throughout, while still showing a bold edge.”

These SS15 collection looks build on the core technical skills taught in the Hybrideducation.co Foundational Cut & Color Series and challenge stylists to take their craft to the next level using more complex techniques. Each cut and color approach is taught using an in-depth video, step-by-step images and diagrams, which are available online, on-demand and exclusively to Hybrideducation.co members.

"We drew inspiration for our SS15 Collection from the the ideology of modern, structured habitats set amidst unkempt landscapes," says Haidl. "We felt one fantastic example of this existed in Koshino House, a minimalist structure designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. In one particular image the variation of the jagged, natural landscapes against the brutalist residence creates a melancholy, yet romantic feel. The contrasts inherent here are translated to cutting by incorporating strong technical elements with aggressively disconnected and deconstructed panels; with color a palette of matte, cool tones are juxtaposed with complementary natural warmth ensuring strong contrast throughout."

Hybrideducation.co provides comprehensive hairdressing education through its online, on-demand training platform and live seminars.
