Sombre after second session

Kat Chase (@kat_chase_) of Educe Salon, Orlando, Florida, specializes in ombré, balayage and alternative styles. When we found this very tasteful transformation on her Instagram page, we asked for more details.

Chase shares that her client had been getting traditional foil highlights in the past and "had blotches of color bands all through her hair. I knew this wasn't going to be a single step correction," she says.

SESSION 1

formulas:

A) Base color  L'Oreal Professionnel Majirel 1/2 6N 1/2 5N with 20 volume

B) Lowlight (to blend bands of color) L'Oreal Professionnel Dia Richesse 6.3 with 9 volume

C) L'Oreal Professionnel Infinie Platine lightener with 30 volume

D) Gloss 9.02/9.01L'Oreal Professionnel Dia Light 9 volume

Step 1: To cover grey and enrich the base, apply formula A.

Step 2: While processing, section the hair into 3 sections (ear to ear and center part). Starting at the nape, take 1 inch thick diagonal back sections (making a V shape). Apply in a balayage technique, either formula B or C to cover the banding. Continue this in the back section, working into the front sections. "Use your professional option and creative eye to create your placement."

Step 3: Once application finished, rinse the back section and allow the front to process for 30 additional minutes.

Step 4: Towel dry the hair and gloss with formula D for 10 minutes. Shampoo and condition.
