When a hair appointment goes wrong, it pays to have a stylist/hair savior for a bestie! This proved true when Stylist Kara Dones was approached by a friend who had just had her hair colored and did not get the results she wanted.

“To start with she had an ombre going on, so when the first stylist did her hair the ends ended up being white and the top gold,” said Dones. “She wanted to be blonder, but not all over blonde, so I went in with a partial heavy weave foil. I had to be careful, though, not to get any of the previous blonde in because I didn't want to create damage, so I left the ends out as well.”

HOW-TO:

1. Apply Redken Flash Lift bleach with 25 developer (mixed 20 and 30) then let that process for about 40-50 minutes without a drier (10-15 minutes with a dryer, but be sure to keep an eye on it), then rinse.

2. Tone with Redken shades Platinum Ice(v) and Chrome(v) à .5ozV+.5ozT+1oz shades processing solution = 2oz total. Apply the toner on damp hair with a bottle and let it process for about 5-8 minutes.

3. Rinse with conditioner.

“Nothing too fancy,” said Dones, “but her hair needed some loving. The zebra '90s stripes had to go!”
