Kayla Distasio (@kayla_thehairwizard) of Outlooks For Hair, Wyomissing, PA, says "My guest had an old ombre she had neglected to get touched up for months and she wanted something totally different. She gave me creative freedom and was willing to lose a lot of length. I wanted to work with the red she already had in her hair, but make it more modern. She wanted it to be 'different.'"

Well, "different" is what she got! Here Disatsio shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Apply the root color: 1/2 oz. 5vr, 1/4 3vr, 1/4 4rv Matrix Socolor with 10 volume

Step 2: While processing, balayage with Matrix Lightmaster and 30 volume.

Step 3: Process 30 minutes, lifting to a level 9. Shampoo and dry the hair.

Step 4: Hand paint on the hair, alternating 2 different shades: A: Matrix 3/4 oz. 9c and 1/4 7c with 1/4 Matrix copper soboost 10 volume and B: Pravana Vivids red.

Step 5: Process at room temperature for 20 minutes and then rinse.
