Inspired by the iridescent mother-of-pearl coloring found on the inside of an Abalone Shell, haircolorist Alix Clymer @thereal_omgiloveyourhair created this multi-dimensional look full of violet, silver and sea blue tones.

Clymer used her signature sectioning technique to create fluidity throughout the canvas. Her goal was to change the perception of tones before your eyes. According to Clymer, the secondary tones are brought forth by juxtaposition of tonal value.

“This look is a soft, yet bold transfer of color in combination with an arousing dance of every change color the eye is sure to enjoy,” she says. “Kenra Color makes some amazing shades to play with! I went straight over my client’s fade from her previous color. I used 9-8-7 VM and 8 SM with 9 volume in slices using my sectioning technique, adding some signature flare with Kenra Color Creatives in Blue, Teal and Violet.

From Foiled and Damaged To Luscious Red

Maggie Mulhern | October 1, 2017

"This client had been doing full foils for years, and her hair showed it," says Tiffinie Morton (@hairbytiffinie). "We had been working on getting her hair healthier and decided to try something new. She initially wanted to go to a warm level 5 but I talked her into trying this to ease her into being darker since she had been blonde for so long." Details here.
