Inspired by the tough, slightly androgynous girl, Anthony Turner for Bumble and Bumble created two looks for models at the Creatures of the Wind fall/winter 2016 show at New York Fashion Week. For this look, he created tough, yet pretty, boxer braids.
“Every other season here, we’ve always been a little romantic,” Turner says. “This season, I’m swapping that completely and doing something that’s a bit tougher. It feels really nice to do that. The inspiration was Snoop Dogg– they showed me pictures of Snoop Dogg and I loved his hair.”
To create the look, Turner started by parting hair in the center and prep using with Dryspun Finish and Thickening Full Form Mousse to eliminate flyaways. Then, he applied Brilliantine on his fingertips for added grip and create a raised cornrow on both sides, starting at the hairline and braiding back behind the ear, securing at the nape with elastic, and finished the braid through the ends (allowing the braid to sit on the shoulders).
To finish, he applied Thickening Hairspray as needed to keep the braids clean and then sprayed Classic Hairspray to calm flyaways.
