TRANSFORMATION: Virgin To Blue/Green Melt

Stephanie Lawrence (@hair_princess_steph) of Lush Hair Salon, Londonderry, NH, has been doing hair for about 10 years but in the last 7 months has become a devotee vivid colors. Here she shares the details on this transformation of her client that had natural hair and was looking for blues and greens.

Step 1: Pre-lighten with All Nutrient lightener with 20 volume on the roots and 40 volume with B3 (which dropped it to 30 volume) on the ends. Shampoo and dry and prep with Moringaplex.

Step 2:

Prepare formulas:

Roots: Pravana Green with a dot of Pravana black additive.

Ribbon colors:

Pravana Blue mixed with Mystical Mint

Pravana Green mixed with Mystical Mint

Pravana Green mixed with black additive

Pravana Blue

Pravana Neon Green

Step 3: Alternate shades throughout: "The technique we used is what I call ribbon coloring. It's a play off of the sand art technique. You apply your root color and drag it out about an inch and a half. You then  take about a 1" section and melt the color into the root then do a 'ribbon' of one solid color all the way down that section."

Step 4: Cut and style the hair (design was done by @tmarie_hair)
