COLOR CORRECTION: Botched Merlot To Chocolate Dimension

Maggie Mulhern | March 16, 2016 | 8:41 AM

Amanda LoCastro (@HairByAmanduhh), a Master Colorist/ Stylist at DiRosa Haircare, Franklin Square, NY, is passionate about corrective color, balayage, "and just hair in general!"

Here she shares the details for this beautiful color correction:

Backstory: This client had a pretty traumatizing experience at another salon where the colorist damaged her hair by over processing. Another colorist then toned her to a merlot color. She was looking to achieve something super close to her natural with very subtle chocolate brown dimension.

PREPARE FORMULAS:

Formula A: Goldwell Topchic: 60ml 10vol 60ml 5mb

Formula B: Goldwell Silk Lift: 35 ml 30vol 35ml silk lift strong

Formula C: Goldwell Colorance: 60ml colorance lotion 15ml 5bg 15ml 6sb + Olaplex

Step 1: Balayage alternating formulas A& B, separating each section with foil.

Step 2: Process for 35 minutes.

Step 3: Shampoo and apply Formula C. Process for 25 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse. Apply Olaplex step 2 for 5 minutes. Shampoo and condition.
