Kim Kardashian revealed her new hairstyle in a snapchat captioned “midnight haircut," with a shoutout to her stylist, Mizani Global Artistic Director Cesar Ramirez. He gave Kardashian more than just a cut – he also gave her a soft, honey-hued ombre (perfect for moving into summer) and styled her hair according to his signature, “perfectly undone” look. Her new cut and color got their first public debut at the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Awards in Los Angeles, California on March 20.

“Being a new mom can take a toll on anyone's beauty regimens,” says Ramirez. “There's nothing like a new cut and color!! It’s the ultimate pick me up. That's why I love what I do, I love inspiring people to feel great and look sexy.”

COLOR

For Kardashian's color, the base is a nice chocolate brown with a fine tone-on-tone highlight. Ramirez painted her face frame with some bold toffee and caramel pieces. It's his revamp to the ombre—No need for all over ombre. This technique offers a lived-in, grown-out, rock’n’roll color that doesn’t look like you tried too hard.

CUT

Ramirez cut about five inches off and did a lot of his layering through texturizing by creating invisible layers. This cut allows her hair to be styled to look like it’s all one length (a super modern style), but for every day it has a cool, bed head feel.

STYLING

Ramirez prepped the hair with Mizani 25 Miracle Milk and then applied Mizani Thermastrength Heat Styling Serum to protect and strengthen the colored ends. The hair can then be either rough dried or smoothed with volume. Ramirez also uses a flatiron to build texture.

TIP: A few simple bends is enough to create a lot of movement for Ramirez’s signature done/undone look. The secret is to not try so hard!
