Create a personalized experience for clients while increasing your bottom line—in as little as five minutes.

In whichever form hair damage takes—dullness, dryness, split ends, or faded color—it affects more than 50 percent of women, according to a L’Oréal Professionnel Global Study. With more women coloring and highlighting their hair than ever before, it’s no surprise that damage is their number-one hair concern. Recognizing this need for damage repairing haircare, L’Oréal Professionnel created the in-salon Pro Fiber Treatment and launched the Pro Fiber Consultation App (available for iOs and Android) to help hairstylists diagnose damage and speak with their clients on a personalized level.

Most hairstylists perform an evaluation of the client’s hair at the start of the appointment, but often the client isn’t even aware. The Pro Fiber Consultation App eliminates this communication gap by offering an interactive, personalized, fool-proof hair-damage evaluation that you can go through with your client. The app not only makes the consultation process more obvious for the client, it also increases the probability she will want to address the damage that day.

You’ll use the app to take your client though a series of questions about her weekly haircare routine and habits. Then, based on her hair texture, haircare routine and the amount of heat and environmental aggressors her hair is exposed to, the damage level is determined. The client’s damage will be placed within one of three categories:

  • Slightly Damaged: marked by a dry or rough texture, thinning ends, low shine and less vibrant color.
  • Damaged: rough or uneven texture, with split ends, an oxidizing, uneven color and overall dullness.
  • Very Damaged: disintegrating texture, breakage, faded color and zero shine.

After making your client aware of her level of damage, you can recommend a customized Pro Fiber Treatment:

  • Slightly Damaged Hair receives the Revive Regimen
  • Damaged Hair receives the Restore Regimen
  • Very Damaged Hair receives the Recover Regimen

The in-salon Pro Fiber Treatment can be added on to her appointment, taking just five minutes to complete and adding about $40 (SRP varies by market) to the bottom line. Best of all, clients can purchase app-recommended products to use at home in order to prolong their results for up to six weeks. After six weeks, she’ll return for another treatment thanks to reminder emails that will be sent through the app.

“The Pro Fiber App is awesome for letting the client know through e-mail what to buy for home care, as well as when to come back for another treatment,” says Luke Neri, owner of Neri Hair Studio in Pearland, Texas. “I see product and treatment revenue increased because the in-salon treatment and at home products work together as a whole for amazing long-lasting results. The products are flying off of my shelves.”
