This client underwent a major change - from blonde to minty green for spring! According to colorist Steven Robertson (@stevenrobertsonhair), his client has been an all-over highlight her entire life. One day after he gave her new highlights, he decided to go through her hair with a baby pink wash to give her finished look a little edge. His client was instantly impressed (and obsessed) with her new look!

"We did coral afterwards, and then we decided to be even more adventurous - that's where this minty green tone comes in!" According to Robertson, the minty green stayed in her hair for a full four weeks until it needed to be touched-up.

Follow the steps below to achieve the same look on your daring clients!

THE PROCESS:

During the lightening process, Robertson used ColorPhlex to improve the strength and quality of the hair from the inside out during the lightening process.

ColorpHlex Step 1 can be mixed into any color or bleach product and processed as usual. In this example, ColopHlex Step 1 was mixed in with Redken Flashlift + 20 vol. After the lightening process, this client's hair was rinsed thoroughly, towel dried, and then ColorpHlex Step 2 was applied from root to ends and then left to process.

Clinical trials show that a small amount of ColorpHlex added to haircolor or bleach makes hair up to 4Xs stronger, significantly reducing breakage, and returning hair to its natural healthy state. ColorpHlex recommends their home care products for home use to extend salon results.

GET THE LOOK:

-Formulation: Redken Flashlift + 20 vol + ColorpHlex Step 1 - New growth of highlight

-Formulation: Redken Flashlift + 10 vol + ColorpHlex Step 1 - Pulled through ends of previous highlights if and when I felt they were too golden.

STEP 1: Highlight retouch. Begin in front-left section (see Foil Placement - Side Section photo). Diagonal-back angle mimic’s natural hairline. Baby weaves (no slicing). Some hairlines are more steep than others. Allows for a prettier/softer color when pulled back in to a pony tail (which everyone does, so don’t pretend your clients style their hair every waking moment!). Section works to behind the ear.

STEP 2: Begin top-left section (See Foil Placement - Top Section photo). Start top section (depending on your foiling speed, you may need to start on front-right for even processing from left to right). Top section follows straight back along the natural recession line and natural part line. Diagonal-back angle that mimics natural hairline. Baby weaves (no slicing). Again, specific to client’s natural hairline. Angles vary from person to person, but sections should be parallel to their natural hairline for a softer color when pulled in to a pony tail. Section works into crown.

STEP 3: Begin back section (See Foil Placement - Back Beginning photo). First 6 foils (3 on each side) mimic the natural hairline on the both left and right, allowing for a softer color transition when pony tailed. Baby weaves (no slicing). Once those are completed, I begin working horizontally upwards until the section becomes too wide for the foils. When the section becomes too wide, I do 3 foils again that mimic each side hairline, to narrow the center back to a comfortable width. Continue until the top (See Foil Placement - Back End photo).

STEP 4: Process until all highlights are a level 10. Pale yellow. Rinse. Shampoo. ColorpHlex Step 2 for 10 minutes. Rinse again.

STEP 5: Towel dry (See After Highlight - Highlight Process photo).

- Formulation: Pravana Pastels Mystical Mint (3 tubes) + 2 pea size a droplets of Pravana Vivids Green (to add a touch of saturation). Vivid will HEAVILY saturate pastels, so be careful and very light handed when mixing in vivid in to a pastel.

STEP 6: Apply Pravana mixture to to damp, towel dried hair (for added color longevity, apply to dry hair!). Work product evenly throughout hair with fingers using a scissor motion, pressing the color in to the hair (See After Pravana Mixture - Front / After Pravana Mixture - Back photos).

STEP 7: Let process for 15 minutes.

STEP 8: Rinse. Condition. No shampoo.
