Amy Godo (@color_ahead) of JV Hair Design, Stratford, Conn, has been coloring this client's hair since last year. "She was originally a faded reddish brown and wanted to be a blonde with a shadow root." Godo and client then decided to do something a bit more "colorful".

Here she shares the how-to for this dimensional and pretty transformation for what she describes as "A labor of love!":

Step 1: Fill the hair with Goldwell Colorance soft color 9GB =8G on damp hair. Directly over apply Goldwell Colorance 9GB=8G. Process for 20 minutes. Rinse and towel dry.

Step 2: Fill with Goldwell Soft Color foam 8G=7K to add more warmth. Then overlay with Goldwell Colorance 8G=7N. Process 20 minutes, then rinse and dry.

Step 3: For dimension, alternate in a color blocking style:

Formula 1 - Scruples Shadowlights 2GN = 4GN and 10 volume.

Formula 2 - Goldwell 5RR and 10 volume.

Step 4: Process for 30 minutes and then rinse from the hair.
