THE FORMULA: Intoxicating Indigo

Maggie Mulhern | May 8, 2016 | 6:55 AM

Taylor Rae (taylorrae_hair) of Vito Pini Salon, Lakewood, Colorado created this amazing shade (Rae calls it Intoxicating Indigo) and people are DYE-ING for the formula.

We contacted Rae who shares the details:

-"She is a natural level 5 so I pre-lightened her roots to a level 8 for depth." Rae used Wella Blondor and 30 volume.

-The ends were a pre-lightened level 9 with some faded blue throughout.

-Prepare colors (all Pravana):

Roots:  2 parts black and blue and 1 part violet

Color 1: equal parts violet, magenta and clear

Color 2: locked in purple and blue

(Brazilian Bond Builder added to all the color.)

-To dry hair, apply root color, followed by pulling colors 1 & 2 through the ends -using mostly color one with pops of color 2.

-Process for 40 minutes. Rinse, condition, dry.

Hair was braided and gold glitter sprinkled throughout.

"At home care consists of using Kérastase Chroma Riche shampoo and conditioner and Kérastase styling products for heat and color protection."
